Now more than ever, it’s important for teens to have a place to call their own - a place where they feel comfortable and can flourish as young, educated leaders. On March 29, in conjunction with the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Business After hours, Douglas County Boys & Girls Club officially opened its vibrant, new and unique teen center.
Thanks to the support from several dignitaries, including Douglasville Mayor Harvey Persons, Sheriff Phil Miller, County Commissions Chair Tom Worthan and WSB Radio Personality Captain Herb Emory, the grand opening was nothing short of amazing.
Equipped with a multi-media room, performing arts studio, stage, recording studio, games and art room, learning/technology center, lounge and a café area, the Douglas County Teen Center is a unique place devoted to keeping teens involved and active in constructive afterschool activities that help them prepare for a successful future.
What’s the Purpose of this New Teen Center? This new facility will provide a fantastic place where teens feel safe and secure to dream and discover their potential. Within the space, dedicated staff and intentional programs will guide our teens and help prepare them for graduation and college, allow them to become financially responsible and understand the importance of giving back to their community.
How Many Teens Will the Center Service? With 27% of Douglas County Boys & Girls Club membership comprised of teens, this 6,000 square foot teen center is thriving with teens excited about their future of endless possibilities. Douglas County Boys & Girls Club is one of five of the 25 metro Atlanta Club locations with stand-alone teen centers.
